Unit 18 Less Common Math Symbols
The following signs are considered signs of operation and do not require a space in front of or after the symbol.
Plus or minus (±) | ⠸⠖ |
Ratio (:) | ⠒ |
Examples:
x = ±8
⠰⠭⠀⠐⠶⠀⠸⠖⠼⠓
2:3
⠼⠃⠒⠼⠒
x:y
⠭⠰⠒⠽
NOTE: When a ratio occurs in front of a letter, a grade 1 indicator must be used to distinguish the ratio from the "cc" contraction.
Less Common Signs of Comparison
The following signs of comparison follow the same rule for spacing as the equal sign and greater than or less than symbols. They must have a space on either side of the symbol.
