The Game
It was his turn. They were tied 10-to-10. He lifted his paddle to serve. The ball fell just beyond the net and landed on the table. He reeled back just in time to return the volley before the ball hit the table twice. The other player was doing well today. It would be tough to score against him. The ball came back to his side, and he rose up and slammed it down. He missed. It fell to the floor and rolled beneath the table. "I’ve had enough for today," he said. "Maybe I will do better tomorrow."
