The Unlucky Day
I knew it was going to be a terrible day when I didn't hear my alarm go off. My older sister, Nancy, shook me awake so hard that I thought it was a massive earthquake!
"You had better hurry," Nancy said giggling. "Or else you will miss the bus and have to walk-again!"
I scrambled out of bed and reached for my favorite pair of jeans but they were missing. I had to throw on the next thing I found which was a pair of shorts from grandma which were two sizes too small. As I looked frantically for a clean sweatshirt, I heard the sound of heavy rain on the roof.
I raced like a cyclone out of my bedroom and straight into my father who was carrying his morning cup of coffee. Dad scolded me and told me to be careful in the future. I mumbled an apology as I slipped by him and raced down the stairs. Mom was waiting for me with a piece of toast and two sheets of paper.
"I think this was your algebra homework," Mom said. "I found it in Charlie's basket."
Charlie, the dog, gave me a sheepish look and hid behind my mom, his tail tucked firmly between his legs. I opened the front door and readied myself to make a dash for the school bus when I saw that it was already down the street! This had to be the worst day of my life! I screamed "Nooooooooo!" at the top of my lungs. Then, my mom shook me awake. She said that I must have been having a bad dream.
