Growing Mold
The science fair is less than two weeks away. I cannot decide what to do. Miss Clark calls me up to her desk. I am supposed to explain to her my project but I don't have any good ideas. Miss Clark is nice and gives me a couple of suggestions. I decide to grow mold. When I announce my project to my friends over lunch, they think it sounds cool.
"I think it is gross," says my twin sister Beth.
At home I begin the experiment. I need three slices of bread. One slice I put in the refrigerator. The second slice of bread I place on top of the refrigerator where it is warm. The third slice of bread I spritz with water and place in a dark cupboard. Over the next week I record my results. I discover that the bread on top of the refrigerator is the moldiest. Mold must like warm places. The bread in the cupboard is covered in mold too. This tells me that mold grows quickly in dark wet places. The bread in the refrigerator does not have mold. Now I am ready to present my facts to the class.
