The Packed Beach
In the late afternoon I rode to the beach with Jess. Jess loved riding bikes as much as I did. When we got there, the beach was packed. It looked like a can of sardines. There wasn't an inch of sand anywhere! Jess and I wondered what was going on. Then we heard people talking. There was a surfing contest for pets going on. We thought it would be fun to watch but how? We couldn't squeeze in anywhere.
"Why don't we watch from the pier?" said Jess.
Jess and I raced over to the pier which was busy too. But we managed to wiggle our way through the crowd. We saw little dogs and big dogs. They were riding the waves with their owners. Some dogs were even grabbing the boards and pulling them along. I guess they liked to surf. I would love to try surfing with my dog but he is afraid of the waves.
