Unit 12 Runovers

It is understood that technical material and mathematical expressions or equations can be very long. Because mistakes can be made when carrying expressions over to a new line, Nemeth Code has set guidelines for dividing expressions, equations or other scientific material between lines.

(1) Mathematical expressions, equations and formulas should be brailled on one line when possible.

(2) If there is not enough room on the current line, the entire expression should start on the next line.

(3) If it is impossible to fit the entire expression on one line, divisions should be made according to this order of priority:

(1) Before a sign of comparison

(2) Before a sign of operation

(3) Before a fraction line

(4) Before a baseline indicator

(5) Before a level change indicator

(6) Between factors included in signs of grouping

(7) After a comma in an enclosed list

(8) After termination sign

Examples:

Formula for the sum of the first n terms. S n = u 1 + u n 2 × n

⠠⠿⠍⠥⠇⠁⠀⠿⠀⠮⠀⠎⠥⠍⠀⠷⠀⠮⠀⠋⠌⠀⠰⠝⠀⠞⠻⠍⠎⠲⠀(new line)

⠸⠩⠀⠠⠎⠰⠝⠀⠨⠅⠀⠹⠥⠂⠬⠥⠰⠝⠐⠌⠆⠼⠈⠡⠝⠀⠸⠱

Begin the equation on a new line.

1 2 + 1 3 + 1 4 + 1 5 + 1 6 + 1 7 + 1 8 + = ?

⠹⠂⠸⠌⠆⠼⠬⠹⠂⠸⠌⠒⠼⠬⠹⠂⠸⠌⠲⠼⠬⠹⠂⠸⠌⠢⠼⠬⠹⠂⠸⠌⠖⠼

⠬⠹⠂⠸⠌⠶⠼⠬⠹⠂⠸⠌⠦⠼⠀⠨⠅⠀⠿

Choices are before a sign of comparison, before a sign of operation, or before a fraction line.

The best choice for this problem is before a sign of operation.

{1001, 1002, 1003, 1004, 1005, 1006, 1007, 1008, 1009, …}

This enclosed set is best divided after a comma.

(2+2)2 + (3+3)2 + (4+4)2 + (5+5)2 + (6+6)2 + (7+7)2

⠬⠷⠖⠬⠖⠾⠘⠆⠐⠬⠷⠶⠬⠶⠾⠘⠆

Choices are before a sign of operation, before a baseline indicator, or before a level change indicator.

The best choice for this expression is before a sign of operation.
